Travel eSIM questions, answered
The questions that come up most often before and after buying a travel eSIM — installation, timing, what the plans do and do not include, and what to do when something goes wrong.
Frequently asked questions
When should I install my eSIM?
Install it before you fly, while you have reliable Wi-Fi, but leave the line switched off. Validity starts when the eSIM first connects to a network at your destination, so installing early costs you nothing.
Do I get a phone number with the plan?
No. esimbloom plans are data only. You keep your existing number on your normal SIM for calls and SMS, and use the eSIM for internet.
What if I need more data mid-trip?
Buy another plan or a top-up for the same destination and install it the same way. There is no automatic charge and no overage billing.
My eSIM will not connect after landing. What should I check?
Confirm the line is switched on, that data roaming is enabled for that specific line, and that the eSIM — not your home SIM — is set as the mobile data source. A restart resolves most remaining cases.
Can I get a refund?
An unused, uninstalled plan can be refunded under the terms on the refund policy page. Once a profile has been installed and connected, the plan has been delivered and is generally non-refundable.
Will the plan work if my trip crosses borders?
A single-country plan works only in that country. For multi-country trips, a regional or global plan keeps working as you cross borders on one purchase.
