Samsung & Android eSIM Compatibility: The Practical List
Which Samsung, Pixel and Xiaomi phones support eSIM? Compatibility list, regional exceptions, and the 10-second check for your exact Android device.
Apple made eSIM simple: every iPhone since 2018 has it. Android is messier — support depends on model, region, and occasionally which carrier's firmware the phone shipped with. Here's the practical map.
Samsung Galaxy
- Galaxy S20 and later (S20/S21/S22/S23/S24/S25 series) — eSIM support on most global variants.
- Galaxy Z Flip and Z Fold (all generations) — yes.
- Galaxy Note 20 — yes.
- A-series — mostly no: only select recent models (e.g. A54/A55 in some regions) carry eSIM. Check per device.
- The regional catch: some US-carrier and some Asian-market Galaxy units shipped with eSIM disabled in firmware even when the hardware has it. The 10-second check below is definitive.
Google Pixel
- Pixel 3 and later — eSIM supported (Pixel 2 had it US-only).
- Pixel 7+ supports two active SIMs (eSIM + physical); newest models run dual eSIM.
- Cleanest eSIM implementation on Android — Pixels are the least likely to surprise you.
Xiaomi, and the value brands
- Xiaomi: flagship lines (13/14/15 series) support eSIM in most global markets; Redmi and POCO lines largely don't. Region matters enormously with Xiaomi — verify your exact variant.
- Oppo/OnePlus: recent flagships yes (Find X-series, OnePlus 11 onward in most regions); budget lines mostly no.
- Motorola: Razr foldables and recent Edge models yes; the G-series is hit-and-miss.
The 10-second check for ANY Android
- Dial
*#06#— if an EID appears alongside the IMEI, the phone has eSIM hardware. - Or: Settings → search "eSIM" or "Add mobile plan" — if the option exists, you're compatible.
Also confirm the phone is carrier-unlocked — a locked Android will install a travel profile and then refuse to connect it.
